Distributed energy generation, including solar and wind paired with energy storage systems, has the unique ability to address both the cause and effects of global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions while building resilience in the power sector in the face of increasing extreme weather events. The landscape of distributed energy resources is hanging rapidly, with significant recent developments. This session seeks to educate attendees about the current and projected feasibility of using energy storage paired with distributed renewable energy generation, and what are some of the benefits and potential drawbacks of distributed energy infrastructure, especially on the communities where it is deployed.
